Lots of QuadMasters' Firsts This Weekend in Ohio
Posted Friday, June 24, 2005
(Belding, MI - June 21, 2005) The QuadMasters National ATV Challenge Tour PRESENTED BY QUADBOSS, held its 3rd event at the Richland County Fairgrounds in Mansfield, OH this past (Father’s Day) weekend, and it was all about family… from the staff to the riders it was truly a family weekend. Included were 2- Father & Son teams and 1- Father & Daughter team that were competing at this event.
Before we get to the first place winners from this past weekend’s event in Mansfield Ohio, QuadMasters had Junior and Youth riders competing this past weekend; on top of that our Youth rider was also our first female competitor. Derek (Jr. Rider) and Kaycee (Youth Rider) both came prepared to ride complete with Helmet & Upper body protection. They were serious competitors that took on the challenges with a keen sense of know how and a perseverance that would match that of any adult. It was truly enjoyable to watch them skillfully maneuver through the challenges at hand with the biggest smiles we have seen to date! Congratulations to the both of you!
The Mansfield event saw the return of QuadMasters Members Creig & Tony Karhoff who made the trek down from Bancroft, MI, who if you recall dominated at the Greenville, MI event. Also in attendance was Mark Brandt from Manitoba, Canada who managed to make the Mud Bog at the Black River Falls, WI event look like a cakewalk (he was the only competitor able to complete the Mud Bog challenge that weekend & in record time too). Rumor has it that the Karhoff’s were hoping that Mark would compete in Mansfield as they were eager to go up against this Canadian & his 800 Polaris especially in the Mud.
We saw many new faces out there in Mansfield including a Cross-Country Racer Garret Miller who had the extra challenge of manually reversing his Predator 500 within the confines of the challenges that required it. This he did by strategically back-pedaling his front tires with his boots; after a couple of challenges he had this down to a science.
We must give props to Kaycee (Youth rider) as she tackled her challenges with skill & determination, with each round she bettered her score shaving seconds off each of her previous times.
Mark Brandt, who wowed some of the other riders with his ability to skim through the mud with such ease, achieved the best time of 3.91 seconds in the Mud Bog challenge. A valiant effort was made by Derek (Jr. Rider) on his attempts through the mud, when everyone else (staff, spectators and competitors alike) were convinced that he was stuck, Derek managed to skillfully rock his ATV enough to push forward an additional 7’ before he decided that he was finished with this 1st attempt. He is definitely one to watch over the next couple of years, as he is a talented “natural” rider.
The Best Overall Combined Time winner from this past weekend’s event was ANTHONY KARHOFF who came in with an overall best time of 215.670 seconds; and took home a set of QuadBoss Aluminum ATV ramps for his achievement.
Congratulations to all of the competitors!
